Saturday – Luke 15-16

1.  Chapter 15 is sometimes called “The Lost-and-Found Chapter.”  The Lord is showing how very valuable each and every soul is to him.  The last example is the “prodigal” son which means the wasteful son.  The parable is not about him alone.  What is the Lord teaching about the Father in this parable?  What is He teaching about with the older son?

2.  In the Parable of the Shrewd Manager, Jesus commends the man for continuing to cheat, continuing to sin!  This makes the parable hard to understand because Jesus is not condoning sin!  So what is he teaching us?   See 16:8.   How shrewd are you in handling the worldly wealth God has given you?  What does Jesus want us to do with it above all? See 16:9.

3.  With the Rich Man and Poor Lazarus, Jesus is not teaching much about why or how you get to heaven or hell.  But he does show what we need to use to get to heaven.  What is his main point at the end of the parable?

Friday – Luke 14

1.  Why do you think Jesus accepted invitations to dinner, like this one at a Pharisee’s home, when he knew they were looking for something to use against him?

2.  The first thing you think about when you read “The Parable of the Great Banquet” is all the excuses people make about not coming to church.  However that is not the parable’s primary meaning.  The refusal to come to the banquet is really about what?

3.  In 14:26, it sounds like Jesus is requiring that you hate your family as well as yourself.  What does he really mean by this verse?

2.  What is the similar point of comparison that Jesus is teaching with the two short parables in 13:18-21?

3.  What is the narrow door of salvation that only a few will find?   What does this tell you about the modern day attitude that just about everyone is going to heaven?
