1. According to 5:5, what does it take to become guilty of idolatry (worshiping a false god)? 
2. What is the “god” that is being worshipped?
3. What is the main responsibility for a wife in marriage?  For a husband in marriage?       Read 5:22-25.  At the end of the chapter:  which word is used instead of “submit”?
4. How does this war “against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” show up on this earth? (6:12)      What are the “flaming arrows” that the devil tries to attack us with?  (6:16)

Monday, August 9 – Ephesians 4

 1.  In 4:1-6, Paul describes a blessed unity that the Triune God has given us.   He encourages us to keep the unity that God has given.  What messes up this unity? 

2.  According to 4:11-13,  what is the main job of a pastor/teacher?    Is that the way we look upon our pastors today? 

3.  What 2 things does Paul tell us to do in 4:22-23?   Then observe how those two things are carried out in example after example in the rest of the chapter.

2.  The great barrier that Jesus smashed was the wall between Jew and Gentile.  We are all joined together in Christ’s church and form his building!  What is our foundation? See 2:20.

Thursday, August 5 – Ephesians 1

1.  Paul begins his letter with a hymn of praise to the Father for choosing us, to the Son for redeeming us, to the Holy Spirit for sealing us.  Ponder 1:4-6. When did the Father choose us to be his?  What makes it so hard to comprehend to think that God chose us and we did not choose him?

2.    A seal is a mark or a stamp of ownership.  When did the Holy Spirit mark us with God’s seal?

3.  At the end of chapter 1, Paul states the glorious truth that Jesus has all the world under his feet and is ruling it at God’s right hand.  What make it so hard to accept that truth sometimes?
